Transitioning from Care Position Paper

“Leaving care is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do.  Personally, it was very difficult learning to live alone, so I was very lonely.  It is really hard to do it alone.  I contact CREATE as a start”  Young person quote from Go Your Own Way report, 2016

At CREATE, we know that young people transitioning from care can experience some real challenges. CREATE’s recent research showed that young people were worried about money, where they were going to live when they left care and being lonely.

CREATE has produced a Position Paper on Transitioning from Care, calling for governments to keep listening to young people about their care experiences and their views about making it better. CREATE also calls for raising the leaving care age to 21 years (instead of 18 years) and to keep providing support up to the age of 25 years.
