Youth Advisory Groups

Our Youth Advisory Groups (YAGs) are one of CREATE’s youth empowerment programs, designed to provide young people with an out-of-home care experience aged 10-25 with a platform to have their voices heard.  Meetings provide the opportunity for young people – in care or who have left care – to talk about issues they are facing in the care system. It is the sharing of their experiences that informs CREATE’s advocacy and helps us to build our resources, programs and policy developments.

We want young people to feel excited and empowered to have their say. Youth Advisory Groups are held regularly in each state and territory and are combined with a free, fun activity! Young people who participate in YAG meetings can help contribute to positive change in the care system in Australia, share their experiences with others who may have similar backgrounds. These forums provide an outlet, a safe space and a chance to connect, while ensuring that young people feel heard and empowered to have their say and impact change within the system and their own lives.
