Nakita Snaps That Stigma

“I began my dance journey when I was 5. I was taken from my parents and put into foster care due to no fault of my own. Dance has always been my saviour and allowed me to express myself and how I was feeling about particular things and the often harsh reality that I was living in. It also helped me to feel more confident within my body, helped me create lifelong friendships while having fun, building confidence and doing what I loved most ” – Nakita

Former clubCREATE-er, Nakita’s dancing has gone from strength to strength and she has recently opened her own dance school, NK Studios in Brisbane.

Nakita learned to use her voice in CREATE’s Speak Up Program and now she wants to be positive role model, and so she is teaching dance classes for kids with a care experience.

Way to go, Nakita – keep on dancing!
