CREATE’s Birthday Connection Events

With 2019 being CREATE’s 20th Birthday year, we’ve thrown birthday events all across the country. September was our biggest month for birthday events yet, with CREATE teams across Australia throwing birthday themed connection events for Child Protection Week. So what makes a CREATE birthday party special?

Location, location, location

CREATE’s Victorian team had an amazing place to throw a birthday party- the historic Luna Park! Those who came along to our birthday party had an amazing time riding the ferris wheel, roller coasters and other rides, and playing the amusement games.

Our Tasmanian and New South Wales teams both held events at Inflatable World, where the young people had an AMAZING time bouncing around Australia’s largest indoor inflatable playgrounds!

Stacks of entertainment

Our events had clowns, bouncy castles, inflatable basketball, Supreme Football, drumming games, photobooths, giant Jenga and Connect Four, face painting, rides and more! Though I’m not sure who had more fun playing the games – the kids who came along or our CREATE crew!

All the food

From kangaroo tails, to pinatas full of lollies, our birthday parties were full of awesome food. We couldn’t have done this without the amazing volunteers and teams who gave their time to feed everybody, like Ingkintja Men’s Shed who cooked our roo tails, or the always amazing Rapid Relief team for their barbecue!

Every birthday party needs cake, and a CREATE party is no exception. Our birthday parties had some amazing cakes, from beautiful chocolate cakes to delicious cupcakes, our parties had some amazing creations for everybody to share.

Invite the VIPs

An enormous THANK YOU to everyone who come along to our birthday events! We had some amazing guests join us to celebrate our birthday! Our Tasmanian team saw the Honourable Jacquie Petrusma MP, and the Commissioner for Children and Young People Tasmania, Leanne McLean, come along to celebrate our birthday, South Australia was lucky enough to be joined by Jayne Stinson MP and the Guardian, Penny Wright, and Minister Wakefield was able to join us for our Alice Springs party!

But of course, the biggest thank you is saved for the ultimate VIPs of our birthday parties- the children and young people and their carers and families! We had hundreds of children and young people, carers, and family members join us for our parties, and it was so rewarding to see what an amazing time everybody had! An especially big thank you to those who braved bad weather to be with us!

We want to see all of you again soon, so check out your state’s Round Up to find out what events are coming up near you! Or, if you want to learn more about CREATE’s 20 year history, check out our new Birthday Book!
