YAG Summary Reports

CREATE’s Youth Advisory Groups (YAGs) give young people aged 10–25 with a care experience a chance to speak up, be heard, and help make the care system better.

Each year, our YAG Summary Reports compile what they said over the past 12 months and are shared with decision-makers in the highest offices.

Our YAG Summary Reports are released annually, compiling the voices and ideas of children and young people across Australia. The latest YAG Summary Report was sent to federal, state and territory Ministers in October 2025.

About YAGs

YAGs are relaxed, youth-friendly meetings where young people can share their ideas, talk about what’s working (and what’s not), and connect with others who get what it’s like to be in care.

Each YAG is different — sometimes it’s about discussions, other times it’s hands-on activities or community events. But every YAG is:

  • A safe and supportive space to share experiences
  • A place to connect with other young people and CREATE staff
  • A way to influence CREATE’s advocacy, programs, and resources

Activities can include creative workshops, cultural sessions, games, and social outings. Here’s what young people say about CREATE’s YAGs.

“Being around other young people that have been through care makes me feel like I’m not alone.” – YAG participant
“The YAGs helped me find my advocacy voice. I feel heard and I get to be myself.” – Young person

How to get involved

CREATE runs YAGs regularly in each state and territory, and some sessions online to ensure young people in regional areas can also participate.

If you are a young person with a care experience aged 10 to 25 and you’re feeling inspired and would like the opportunity to raise your voice and engage with other young people we encourage you to reach out to our state teams and get involved in creating change. We can’t wait to see you there!
