CREATE ACT Art Competition
Recently CREATE in the ACT hosted an Art competition, with the theme of “Connecting through Expression” – thanks to the SNOW Foundation!
In May with the COVID-19 pandemic – we tried to think of lots of different ways we could connect with children and young people and their families and caregivers, as well as connecting you with each other. One of the ideas that we thought was great (which our Tasmanian CREATE friends came up with) was a virtual Art competition. So – in May we put call out seeking artworks and creations of all kinds – from photos, poetry, drawings to a creation made out of paper, playdough, lego, paint on paper, stones or wood. Suggested themes Siblings, Family, Connection, Culture, Happy Place, Stability – though all works were encouraged, as were creations from individuals, sibling groups or families.
We were thrilled to receive 26 wonderful entries – and we have finally put them up for you all to appreciate. Ages of people who entered range from 5 years to 19 years of age. We are now at the stage where we will ask entrants and Young Consultants to vote for their Top 3 and will announce the winners if the different age groups very soon – so stay tuned!!
