The AMP Foundation Celebrates 25 Years with Charity Zipline
A 125m zipline across Circular Quay skyscrapers to celebrate 25 years of the AMP Foundation
Last week, 160 Australians took part in The AMP Foundation Big Zipper — an Australian-first, building-to-building charity zipline, spanning the rooftops of AMP’s two iconic skyscrapers at Sydney’s Circular Quay.
The event was designed to celebrate The AMP Foundation’s 25th Anniversary whilst supporting 15 Australian charities, including CREATE Foundation. Participants had two challenges: to raise $5,000 for their chosen charity and to soar from AMP’s 188-metre-high building with a vertical drop of 75m at a 45-degree angle.
Our CREATE supporters made us proud by braving fierce wind, fog and heavy rain but all made it ‘to the other side’ very smoothly! Saturday, our supporters were a little luckier and were able to enjoy one of the world’s most spectacular views under a fine blue sky.
The AMP Big Zipper was a unique fundraising event and we would like to thank the AMP Foundation for their generous and highly successful initiative. We also hope staff members recovered from the short night sleeps leading to this colossal event!
Our sincere thank you as well to our CREATE supporters: our board member Jann Skinner tripled her fundraising and was the highest fundraiser of all charities, followed by the Chairman of AMP Capital, Vanessa Wallace who doubled her fundraising and was the third highest fundraiser of all charities. We were lucky to have many supporters who exceeded their fundraising target including CEO of AMP Capital Adam Tindall followed by David Ross, Anthony Mitchell, Sean Henaghan and Angela Makrakis. Not far behind were Adam Asher, Jessica Nguy, Michael Lidgard and Sarah Watson with her fashionable pink unicorn costume!
A particular thank you to Michael Lidgard whose genuine fear in life is height: your legs may have shaken a little (ok a lot!) BUT you did it!!
We hope it will be a long-time memory and dinner party ice-breaker for all of you, especially knowing that all funds raised will go towards helping children and young people in care!
